Passion
Hi!
First, I want to thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I know that a lot of people don’t like to read, and if they do they don’t like to read for long! So your reading is definitely appreciated. 🙂
God has recently been dealing with me about PASSION. I’ve recently had to evaluate my life and ask myself, “Why am I not just absolutely crazy about something??” Sure I have things that I absolutely love like being with my wife and daughter, ministering to young people, making music and things like that. But I’m talking about passion that expresses itself through my deepest emotions. What is it that makes me not want to identify with extreme passion expressing itself through extreme behavior. There is a lot to weep and cry about but I rarely ever cry. There is a lot to passionately dance and sing about but I don’t. Like the men in Luke 7:31-35, it’s pretty hard to get true emotions out of me. I don’t like that.
Can I be real? I can count the times that I’ve seen people passionate about something, that is, to the point that their passion knocks down all barriers of emotional inhibitions. In other words, they don’t mind looking crazy. (This is both in and out of the church.) If the world loses it’s passion, fine. It will only open the door wide open for the passionate Bride of Christ to sweep millions of souls into the kingdom of God. But if the church is not passionate?? C’mon. How many times have you ever seen church people (to include pastors and elders) laying face down, weeping and crying out for the presence of God. Or how about radical dancing? Not many. Why? Because if we express this passion, then our other “brothers and sisters” may think that we’re crazy and will make fun of us because after all…kings don’t dance for others, others dance for them. If the Lord of all can rejoice over me with singing…if Jesus Christ can dance when we receive revelation of him…if Jesus can weep over my sin…if Jesus can intercede on my behalf with the same passion he showed in the garden of Gethsemane for ETERNITY then I, the creation, should not dare to be and show any less passion for Him.
Lord stir in me a deeper passion for you!
